Betty L. Childress Cook Welty, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, in Springhill Village. Betty was born on Oct. 3, 1930 in Ashville, Ill., to Leonard Childress and Helen Dukeman Childress.
Betty was a registered nurse and a homemaker. She worked at Lincoln State Hospital and Shawnee Hospital. She was an avid reader, who loved crossword puzzles and listening to country-western music, especially George Jones. She also took pleasure in watching birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Eugene Cook and her second husband, Dr. John A. Welty.
