May 17, 1956 - Feb. 4, 2015 Debra Dee (Ferris) Banta, 58, of Abingdon, Illinois, was taken home Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at her residence in Huntsville, Alabama. Farmer's daughter, Military wife, beloved mother, sister and grandmother. Survived by her husband, Dr. Irvin Joseph Banta III; daughter, Niña Dee Banta; son, Irvin Joel Banta IV and wife Rachel Marie (Capitano) and their daughter, Elizabeth Kate; brothers: James Gary Ferris and Daniel Robert Ferris; sisters: Marsha Kay Ferris and Jeri Lynn (Ferris) Alsman. Visitation will be Saturday, February 7, 2015, from 12:00pm - 2:00pm at Southwood Presbyterian Church. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm with Rev. Jean F. Larroux III officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ALS Alabama Chapter and/or Hospice of the Valley. Deb lived on the farm north of Abingdon, from birth until 1971 when the family moved into Abingdon; after graduating from Abingdon High School with the Class of 1974, she went to Arizona for a visit with her brother who was stationed there with the Army and there she met Irvin, and the rest is history. She received her A.A. from Arizona Western College 1978.
