Mr. Burke had worked for many years at Inland Steel in East Chicago, Indiana, and ran Morenci Recreation for many years after that. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan and was also a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War.
William E. Burke was born on January 15, 1933, in Rosiclare, Illinois, the son of Carroll C. and Marie (McCoin) Burke.
He married Marjorie Johnson on February 29, 1956, and she preceded him in death in 1981. He then married Ruth E. Hutchinson on January 1, 1984, and she preceded him in death in 1997. On May 29, 1999, he married Marna (Erwin) Strait, and she survives in Bryan.
Also surviving are his step-children, Karen Wehman, of Swanton, Jean (Bobby) Aswell, of Cornelius, North Carolina, Randy (Melva) Strait, of Durham, North Carolina, Fred (Elaine) Hutchinson, of Garden Ridge, Texas, and Mary Ann (John) Borck, of Wauseon, as well as several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and first two wives.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci, Michigan.
