Born: December 06, 1921
Died: January 30, 2015
Byron Joseph “Joe” Comingore died January 30, 2015. He was born in Lafayette, Indiana on December 6, 1921 to Fred B. and Esther Pershing Comingore. He is survived by his daughter Connie and husband Jean Haham, his son Terry Comingore and wife Linda, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
In 1947 Joe graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. As a registered professional engineer of Texas and Louisiana, he worked for Exxon for 35 years.
During WWII he served as a Navy torpedo bomber pilot and remained in the reserves until 1959.
Over the years, Joe was a member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the Seguin Conservation Society, the American Legion, Friends of the Library, the Exxon Mobil Retiree Club and the Presbyterian church.
He will be warmly remembered by many for his 1985 Walking Tour of Downtown Seguin. An active volunteer for the Conservation Society, he could be seen even on hot summer days on the streets around the Courthouse, giving guided tours and sharing stories he’d learned through long hours of research or bringing history alive to younger generations who had never seen some of the everyday objects of the past gathered in Los Nogales Museum.
Family graveside services will be held at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery, to be followed by a reception at the American Legion Hall for all who would like to celebrate Joe Comingore’s life, 1:00-3:30 p.m., Friday, February 13.
Memorial donations may be made to the Seguin Conservation Society, the American Legion, Friends of the Library or the charity of your choice. You are invited to sign the guest book at www.treshewell.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Tres Hewell Mortuary, 165 Tor Dr., Seguin, Texas, 78155, 830-549-5912.
