(1924 - 2006)

Catherine Marie Brannigan, age 82, formerly of 2627 Pine Grove Ave., died on Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Meadowview Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in St. Nazianz on Jan. 4, 1924, a daughter of the late Leo and Anna Simon Schwab. Catherine attended St. Gregory Grade School in St. Nazianz, graduated from Kiel High School and received her Nursing Degree from Loyola University School of Nursing in Chicago. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Veterans Hospital in Chicago. On Oct. 23, 1948, Catherine was united in marriage to John R. Brannigan at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1998. She was a current member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church where she taught religion for twenty-four years and also a member of the Church Women United Society.

She is survived by her sisters; Bernice (Rosie) Schneider and Arline Deehr, special friend Kevin Greenan, Seattle, WA, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Jack, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Deehr and Bernadine Ryan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 11, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with Rev. Father James Connell officiating.
Family and friends may call at church, 824 Huron Ave., from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Gregory Cemetery, St. Nazianz.
