info taken from The Heritage of Cleburne County, Alabama:
James McGhee Clark married Tempie Adeline Pirkle on March 30, 1867. James didn't like his middle name McGhee so he changed it to Paul and was known as James P Clark. He lived most of his life between Beason Mills and Bells Mills as a farmer. James was a talented fiddle player and played at many dances in his area and was also a fine wood worker making lots of furniture and kitchen gadgets. He is said to have made each of his daughters a dough bowl and blanket chest as wedding gifts. Some remain as family heirlooms. James and Tempie had a large family of which many of the descendants still live in Cleburne, Calhoun and Talladega Co. Raymond married Etta Ward, Zachariah (named after his paternal grandfather) married Della Pritchard, Jake married Effie Thompson, Newt married Debra Ann Johns, Richard married Mamie Summerville, Rosie married Willie Carson Hobb, Mary married Gus Parrish, Lucinda married Ben Smith, and Christina married Oliver Elton Ward.
James had been to town one day and while walking home near one of his sons house he was taken sick. He died six days later and was buried at Old Harmony Cemetery in 1917. Tempie went to live with her daughter Mary in Temple, Georgia.
