Jane Alice Burger Hardy, 42, of South Main Street, Sugarloaf, passed away Friday afternoon at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazle Township, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Hazleton on Oct. 19, 1967, she was the daughter of Mary Kamerzel Burger, Sugarloaf, and the late Russell Charles Burger, who passed away in 1998. She spent the past 11 years in Sugarloaf, after moving back to her childhood home from Beaver Meadows, where she had lived for five years.

Jane graduated from Bloomsburg University in 1988 with a bachelor's degree in education; she later received her master's degree in reading in 1997, also from Bloomsburg University.

She was an elementary computer education teacher in the Shenandoah Valley School District, where she taught for 13 years until earlier this year. She had also worked at different times throughout her life at Stewart's Ice Cream, Gould's IGA, Growing Years Day Care and NEP Insurance.

Jane was a member of Christ Church, United Church of Christ, Conyngham.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of the past 19 years, Michael C. Hardy Sr.; three children, Michael Jr., Emily and Dakota, all at home; three brothers, Dave and his wife, Carol, Nescopeck; Donny and his wife, Jackie, Hubert, N.C., and Danny and his companion, Betsy Kairewich, Stockton; and a sister, Sandy Donnell and her companion, Keith Raifsnider, Sinking Spring. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Harman Funeral Homes and Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, with her pastor, the Rev. Lynn Allhusen, officiating. Burial will follow in Conyngham Union Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Fuel Oil Fund of Christ Church UCC, 460 Main St., Conyngham PA 18219.
