Jeff graduated from Valliview High School where he was very active in the music program. After graduating he joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country for seven years. During Jeff's service he completed training as a computer programmer and earned several military awards for his accomplishments. In 1986 Sgt. Jeff Akovenko was honorably discharged and moved to Kansas City, Kansas where he worked for Lee Company.
Shortly thereafter Jeff married his beloved Robin Shiley. They lived in Kansas for four years before relocating to the Pacific Northwest where they settled down in Portland and raised their three children.
Jeff loved his work and was dedicated to his family. He obtained an Associate of Science Degree from Portland State University while starting a family and working at the same time. During his career he worked with US Bank Corp, Pacific Power and Northwest Natural Gas.
Jeff was also active with his children at the Resurrection Lutheran Church where he helped with their activities in the clowns, puppets & players. His main love in life was his family. He was a loving father and husband who participated in all aspects of his children's lives with much joy and laughter.
He loved playing games and had a close group of friends he played D&D with here in Portland as well as his many military buddies.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Norma Akovenko. He is survived by his loving wife Robin; his son Robert; his daughters Tina and Charlie; his siblings Lori Chandler, John (Linda) Dewey, Kathleen Dewey, James (Matt) Dewey, Stephen (Trudy) Dewey and Peggy Akovenko. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends.
