Claude H. Pethtel was the oldest of 17 children. He married Ica Martin and they had 5 children, Dorothy, Joanne, Geraldine, Nancy C. and Edward W.
He was retired from Weirton Steel Corporation, Weirton, WV., where he was a blacksmith. For a short while he and his wife owned and operated a restaurant in Burgettstown, Pa., during the mid 1970's He was preceeded in death by his parents, Edward & Blanche (DeLong) Pethtel, and his wife Ica.
My grandfather was a garden enthusiast from vegetable to flowers. He enjoyed raising chickens and rabbits. He was a hard worker and his home was always open to friends, family and strangers alike. He was a stern man with a kind and giving heart.
