She was a daughter of John Lawson Allen and Della Bellamy Allen Matson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boyd was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Blevins and husband Oscar, Mallie Mercer and husband Marion; two brothers, Charlie Allen and Thomas E. Matson, II; two brothers-in-law, Tom Milam and Joe Fann.

At the young age of 6 months, she lost her father, however her family continued to grow with the marriage of her mother to Thomas E. Matson.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Johnson City, the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class and the church Parlor Committee.

As her health allowed, she enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels, feeding the homeless, and March of Dimes. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked with Sears Roebuck Co. for many years, and the Washington County Courthouse. During the mid 1960’s through the early 1980’s, she owned and operated The Glass Barn, a gift shop in the Boone/Blowing Rock, North Carolina area.

The graveside service and interment were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
