At the young age of 6 months, she lost her father, however her family continued to grow with the marriage of her mother to Thomas E. Matson.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Johnson City, the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class and the church Parlor Committee.
As her health allowed, she enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels, feeding the homeless, and March of Dimes. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked with Sears Roebuck Co. for many years, and the Washington County Courthouse. During the mid 1960’s through the early 1980’s, she owned and operated The Glass Barn, a gift shop in the Boone/Blowing Rock, North Carolina area.
The graveside service and interment were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
