Lela Mayme Shelton was seventh of nine children born to Eliza Jane Waltz and John Calvin Shelton. Her youth was spent in the Marshall County, Iowa, area and on 10 Mar 1918 she married Stanley Wayne Drury. Their union brought three children into this world; Raymond Edward, Bernice Jenette, and Lewis Wayne. In the 1930s they headed out west to the state of Washington and made it their new home.
After Stanley's death in 1949 Lela then married Walter Henry Wilde. Lela remained in Washington after his death as her children and their families were growing.
