Born October 4, 1942, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Furman Horace and Annie Ruth (Green) Barnette.
Retired from Life of Georgia, Inc., he was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Martha (Gregg) Barnette; a sister, Rebecca Jane Brown of Roebuck; a brother, Kenneth Edward Barnette of Newman, GA; and three step-children.
Visitation was 2:00-2:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Floyds North Church Street Chapel.
Funeral services followed at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. William C. Pate, Jr. and the Rev. Mark Roberts. Burial was in Heritage Memorial Gardens in Roebuck.
Memorials could be made to the Orchid Foundation, Inc., 254 South 38th Street, Brigantine, NJ 08203; or to a favorite charity.
