Nita was a member Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an usher and in the adult choir. She was also a member of Pride of Moundbuilders #551 and the Angelic Voices of Newark.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Q. Coleman II and Richard G. (Darena M.) Coleman I, both of Newark; brothers, Kenneth P. (Rebecca) Black of Newark and William Theodore (Rose) Black of Columbus; sisters, Mary (Bernard) Bolling of Columbus, Virginia Moore of Newark, Donna (Willie) Shaw of Newark, Nettie Oliver of Reynoldsburg, Frances (David) Maxberry of Newark, and Hope Ellis of Columbus; grandchildren, Richard G. Coleman, II of Newark and Todd A.L. (Tiffany) Coleman of Newark; eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father who raised her, William G. Black; brother Cornelius M. Cherry, and granddaughter, Jacqueline J. Coleman.
A funeral service for Nita was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 28, 2015 at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Michael Noble officiating.
