Austin Daniel "Bubba" Wermes, 17, son of Daniel and Danna Wermes of Sioux City, died Friday, March 11, 2005, in South Sioux City from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church, with Youth Pastor Timothy Kniffen of Central Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Austin Daniel Wermes was born Oct. 4, 1987, in Sioux City, the son of Daniel and Danna (Palmer) Wermes. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Crescent Park Elementary School, Hoover Middle School and was a junior at North High School.

He was a member of the Youth Group at Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed paint balling, fishing and playing softball and football. He played football for North High and was a member of Tony's Rez-Boyz softball team that went to two national tournaments in Texas and Louisiana.

Survivors include his parents, Daniel and Danna Wermes; a brother, Cody Wermes; his maternal grandmother, Maureen Kowalewski; his paternal grandfather, Terrence Wermes, all of Sioux City; two aunts, Dana Thompson of Sioux City and Deanna Nathan of Lincoln, Neb.; three uncles, Ed Combs of Council Bluffs, Iowa, David Wermes of Sioux City and Jerry Wermes of Lawton, Iowa; as well as several other aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Andrew Palmer; and his paternal grandmother, Sheryl Kahler.

Pallbearers will be Terry Taylor, Dakota Taylor, Eddie Castillo, Cody Olson, Travis DeWitt, Grayson Jenkins, Nathan Cleveland and Adam Palmer.
