ISABEL LEWIS AGRELL
Isabel died August 12th, 2000 in Prescott Valley, Arizona. She was born August 14th, 1916 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Daughter of C. B. Lewis and Wilhelmina Freeman Lewis. She was the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. E.J. Lewis of Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Isabel was the niece of Sinclair Lewis, Nobel Prize winning author. She is survived by; her son Jeffrey Agrell, wife Shari Rhoads Agrell and granddaughter Lilianna Agrell of Iowa City, Iowa. Son, Lewis Agrell, wife Kathryn Agrell of Prescott, granddaughter Kristen Agrell of Boston, Mass. and grandson Justin Agrell of Sarasota, Florida and step-grandson Justin Leinaweaver, daughter Mary Agrell Stroeing and son-in-law Daniel L. Stroeing of Juneau, Alaska. Brother-in-law John Agrell and sister-in-law Ginny Agrell of Lakeland, Minnesota. Sister-in-law Lucille Agrell of St.Louis Park, Minnesota. Sister-in-law Marylen Agrell Kocks of Ashland, Oregon.

Isabel grew up in St.Cloud, Minnesota then went to New York to attend Teacher's College at Columbia University. She earned a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in NSP Nursery School Program) with a minor degree in Independent Arts. In 1939 she returned to Duluth Minnesota where she worked as a Supervisor and Director of a Women's Resident Center under a program called NYA. (National Youth Administration). Isabel's other work experiences included; Hospital Nursery School Director, Interior Decorating Studio at Levy's in Minneapolis, She was active in local and state Nursery school organizations, she had her own Nursery School in home for 6 years and taught in the public schools. She also worked at Frontier Furniture in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

From 1972 to 1982 Isabel and Robert moved to the resort town of Crosslake, Minnesota opened a gift shop named "The Loft". Isabel was involved with Lutheran Social Service, participated in the creation of the Crosslake Historical Society. She was also involved in the Spiritual Frontier Fellowship group. Upon retiring from the Loft gift shop Isabel and Robert wintered in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Sarasota Florida. They were like other snowbirds and returned to northern Minnesota for the summer months. Isabel considered those years the "happy years". In 1994 Isabel moved to Prescott, Arizona to be near her son Lewis. Recently she had written a book about her memories of Sinclair Lewis titled "Sinclair Lewis Remembered". Isabel touched many lives and hearts during her lifetime. She remained the kind and loving woman she always was, to her death.
