Cyrus R. "Cy" Hull, 75, of Camp Point died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 14, 1991) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy where he had been a patient since Nov. 1.
Born May 16, 1916, in Liberty, Mr. Hull was a son of Earl and Freda Sparks Hull. He married Marjorie Dempsey Jan. 12, 1946, in St. Joseph Catholic Church near Fowler. She survives.
Mr. Hull was employed by Gardner-Denver Co. in Quincy's Walton Heights plant for 33 1/2 years, retiring as general foreman of the stock room and shipping-receiving department in May 1978.
Mr. Hull was a 1937 graduate of Maplewood High School in Camp Point. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Women's and Women's Society of the church, and the Gardner-Denver Quarter Century Club. He was a veteran of World War II and was a charter member of Camp Point Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5410. He was a charter member of the Arrowhead Heights. He served on the Camp Point Village Board, the Community Unit School District No. 3 School Board for two terms. He was coach-manager of Little League baseball teams in Coatsburg and Camp Point for many years and more recently was a member of the chain gang at Central High School football games.
Survivors also include two sons, Dennis Hull of Freeport, and John "Jack" Hull of Jacksonville; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Sharon) Cassens of Ashland, and Mrs. Brandon (Jill) Mason of Quincy; a brother, Virgil Hull of Coatsburg; two sisters, Mildred Herring of Fowler, and Mrs. Wilmer (Mary) Allen of Camp Point; and nine grandchildren, Penny Hull, Brianne Mason and Erin Mason, all of Quincy, Bobette Hull of Freeport, Rob Cassens of Alton, Ryan and Whitney Cassens of Ashland, and John C. Hull II and Charlie Hull, both of Jacksonville.
Mr. Hull was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Saturday in the St. Thomas Catholic Church by the Rev. John Beveridge. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Camp Point.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 tonight and Saturday until time of services in the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 tonight in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Arrowhead Heights or the Oncology Center of Blessing Hospital.
