Jane Beaman Aycock, a Raleigh native, died Friday February 6, 2015. She was born October 23, 1923.
She was presided in death by her parents, Mary Frances Bowen Beaman and John Edward Beaman; her husband William Benjamin Aycock; her sister, Johnsy Beaman Harris; her sisters-in-law, Lucile Aycock McKee and her husband James, Boots Hudson Beaman; her brother-in-law Charles Brantley Aycock and his wife Marian;and her nephew John Edward Beaman III.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jane Aycock Murphy and husband Sam and Beth Aycock Holden and husband Michael; her brother, John Edward Beaman Jr.; brother-in-law John Fleming Harris Jr., five grandchildren, Elizabeth Murphy Collins, Sam Aycock Murphy, William Aycock Holden, Scott Courtney Holden and Stuart Rawlinson Holden; two great granddaughters, Mary Frances Beaman Collins and Kathleen Woodfin Collins; many nieces and nephews, Marguerite McKee Moss, Lucile McKee Clarkson, Frances Harris Wilder, John Fleming Harris III, James Bowen Harris, William Stuart Beaman and Michael Hudson Beaman.
Jane graduated from Broughton High School and Peace College. She worked briefly for the American Red Cross before marrying Bill Aycock and spent years traveling with her husband and family while he was in the U.S. Army. After retirement, she returned to Raleigh while she was active in the Junior League and White Memorial Presbyterian Church of which she was a member for 53 years. Jane worked for Brown-Wynne Funeral Home and the NC Legislature. After that she found a wonderful home in her job as parish secretary for Christ Episcopal Church.
Throughout her life she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life embodied joie de vivre and graciousness. She was the sunshine for her family and friends and set an extraordinary example to her family.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10th at 2pm at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
