Funeral services for Edward Lee Murray, 70, of Natchez, who died Monday, February 9, 2015 in Alexandria, LA, will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and 12:00 p.m. Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Murray was born September 5, 1944 in Natchez, the son of James Edward Murray and Annie Hill Murray. He was a member of Lake St. John Community Baptist Church and the owner and operator of Old South Pest Control. Mr. Murray was a lifetime entrepreneur and a wonderful provider for his family that he loved and cared for very much. He was known for his wit, storytelling, and words of wisdom. He also had a love for life on the lake and spending time with his friends on Lake St. John.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister in law, Donna M. Hall, and a lifelong friend, Michael D. Doyle.

Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Rachel Hall Murray; one son: James L. “Jimmy” Murray and wife, Linda, of Natchez; one daughter: Michelle Murray Donald and husband, David, of Natchez; one sister: Shirley M. Buckley and husband, Tom, of Natchez; five grandchildren: Ashley T. Murray and boyfriend, Robert Rainwater of Walker, LA, Emily D. Murray, James L. Murray, and their mother, Amy Nix Murray, all of Natchez, Murray D. Donald, and Eli H. Donald, both of Natchez; one great granddaughter: Emory C. Fuller of Natchez; one nephew: Kevin R. Kammerdiner and wife, Rhonda, of Hattiesburg; one niece: Leigh Ann Davis and husband, Walter, of Flowood; one great niece, two great nephews, and numerous cousins; and special friends: Geneva Jordan Nick, James Gilbert, Tammy Gunter Wilson, Mary Shields Berry, and Glen Allen Hall.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Jeff Anderson, Bo Mims, Newt Willis, Kevin Kammerdiner, Robert Rainwater, and Glen Seyfarth.

Honorary pallbearers will be William R. “Billy” Smith and Dr. Nassem Jaffrani.
