She was an American Muslim who was murdered along with her sister, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, and brother-in-law, Deah Barakat, near the campus of the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (UNC). Abu-Salha was a graduate of Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, NC and was studing Architecture & Environmental Design at North Carolina State University. Razan was a volunteer with Global Deaf Muslim, which advocates for equal access to Islam for the deaf and hard of hearing. The three murder victims are now collectively referred to as "Our Three Winners."
