ANDERSON, Mogens Sr. "Morgan" - 86, Abercrombie, died Monday, March 31, 2003, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Shanghai, China, he was a son of the late Mogens and Agnes (Jorgensen) Anderson. He attended high school in Denmark and apprenticed on several farms three years before attending the Royal Danish Agricultural College and graduating with a bachelors degree in agriculture. When he moved to Pictou County, he settled in Abercrombie, worked in the Allan Shaft, Stellarton, while operating Riverside Farms and later a landscaping business. He was the principal contractor for the Abercrombie Golf Course expansion in 1966-1967. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. Surviving are daughter, Agnes (Sandy) MacPherson; son, Morgan Jr. "Brother" (Pat); stepdaughters, Pauline Burnett, Patricia (Arnold) Fitzgerald; stepson, Robert "Inky" (Frances) Porter, all of Abercrombie; brother, Erik, Denmark; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Laura; brother, Svend; governess, Louise; son-in-law, George Burnett. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Father Sydney Mifflen officiating. Interment will be in Abercrombie Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.
