Ida Lucille Stevens was the seventh of ten children born to Lenora Sears and Calvin Otto Stevens. Her childhood was spent in Appanoose County and in 1936 she graduated with a Normal Training Certificate from the Centerville High School. While working in the Hotel Tallcorn in Marshalltown (now known as the Tallcorn Towers), she met her future husband; Charles Benjamin Specht Jr. They married 30 Oct 1938 in Princeton, MO and their union produced two children; Sandra May and Calvin Duane.

For most of their lives they lived in Marshalltown and for thirty years they owned and operated ABC Refrigeration located next to the historic Stone's Restaurant alongside the viaduct on 3rd Avenue. She and her husband were avid fishermen taking family and friends on fishing trips to Lake Pepin for many years. They also enjoyed extensive traveling and visited over thirty U. S. states, Mexico, Bahamas, Germany, Spain, France, England, Luxembourg, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Morocco.

One day short of her 97th birthday, Ida passed peacefully surrounded by her daughter and granddaughters at Hancock County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at February 14, 2015, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown, IA.

At the time of her death, Ida was survived by her daughter Sandra May Fiems along with 7 grand-children and 23 great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and son Calvin.
