Chicago, Ill., March 19. – Charles Lockwood Sackett, a native of Dutchess County, N. Y., who died of pneumonia at his home at LaGrange, a suburb, March 11, was buried in Rosehill Cemetery Tuesday afternoon following services in the home and in the First Congregational Church, La Grange, interment being under Masonic auspices. Mr. Sackett was about 74 years of age and is survived by his wife and three children. Frank Sackett, holding a responsible position with the Western Union Telegraph Company in New York City, Mrs. H. E. Pullard, wife of the vice-president of the Union National Bank, of Troy, New York; and Stanley Sackett of La Grange, Edward B. Sackett a retired Board of Trade operator, of Chicago and Morgan Sackett of Fredonia, two brothers of the deceased, the latter in his 80 years, also survive.

Charles L. Sackett was born near Lithgow, the youngest of a large family, received a common school education and when a young man moved to Chicago becoming associated with his brother, Edward, on the Board of Trade. In the 80’s he retired from the board and embarked in business at La Grange where for many years he was one of the foremost citizens. He established and for many years operated the Bank of La Grange and had extensive interests in Montana, Kansas and other places. He retired from business several years ago. He was a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity being one of the charter member of the LaGrange Lodge and a Knight Templar and always took a leading part in lodge work. He oftern visited Dutchess County and royally entertained at his hospitable home anyone hailing from that community. The decedent was a brother of the late Barton Sackett, long a prominent lawyer of Poughkeepsie and an uncle of the Misses Stella and Laura Sackett, who still live there.
