Charles was born in 1911 to Jonathan A. Babcock (South Dayton, NY) and Bertha (Gould) Babcock (South Dayton, NY). He was born in South Dayton, and raised there, as well as in both Collins and North Collins, NY. He attended schools in both Collins and Gowanda. He also had two older sisters, Eunice (Babcock) McEwen Hembury and Louise (Babcock) Heppel. Charles was very athletic, being involved in football, baseball, and bowling for many years. He was a Quaker, and was a member of Collins Friends (Quaker) Church. He married Bernice Gale (Briggs) Babcock Sprague in 1933, and they had one child, Bruce, in 1943. Charles worked at the Ford factory in Lackawanna prior to becoming employed in the business office of the Gowanda Psychiatric Center, where he worked for many years. He is survived by his son, two grandchildren, and a great grandson.
