Violet Lorraine Kirkland Adkins, 83 of Gravel Switch died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Danville. She was the widow of Raymond Adkins. Born February 1, 1932 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Bessie Britton Kirkland.Lorraine was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and she was a homemaker. She loved gardening, playing the piano and all of her animals.Survivors for Lorraine are a daughter and her husband, Debbie and Mike Wilson of Winchester, a son and his wife, Terry and Eugenia Adkins of Gravel Switch, two sisters, Loretta VanDiver and Betty Tiffee both of Harrodsburg, six grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason and Josh Adkins, Darrell Wilson, Stacy Lewis and Heather Garrett and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving is a daughter in law, Vicki Adkins of Danville.In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Adkins a great granddaughter, Mia and three siblings.Services for Lorraine will be Saturday, February 14, 2015, 1:00 p.m., Wilder Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Estes officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery.Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers for their grandmother.
