James B. Topley, 70, of 333 South Main Street, Slippery Rock, former owner and operator of Topley's Restaurant in Slippery Rock died suddenly at 3:00 AM at his home. Mr. Topley owned and operated the restaurant for 30 years prior to his retirement several years ago.
He had attended Slippery Rock College, and was a life member of the Grove City Elks Lodge 1679.
Born September 8, 1899 in East McKeesport, he was the son of Estelle Bain and James Topley.
Surviving are his wife, Ella Davison Topley; a daughter, Sandra (Robert) Davidson of Long Island, New York; two sisters, Mary Walthour and Maud Mershon, both of Fort Myers, Florida; and a bother, Frank Topley of East McKeesport.
Friends will be received at the Ligo Funeral Home, Slippery Rock, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Saturday and from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday from the funeral home, with the Reverend Craig Clark, pastor of Harmony United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Heart Research Fund.
