FAIRFIELD - Dora Mae Quirion Blair, long-time resident of Fairfield, passed away at Lakewood Continuing Care Center on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, with her children by her side. Born on March 15, 1922, in Waterville, to Henry and Ida Quirion, she attended and graduated from Waterville High School.

Dora Mae's life revolved around her family and work. She spent a major portion of her life dedicated to raising her nine children and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, Dora Mae was an excellent cook and baker and passed those skills down to her children and grandchildren. She was well-known for her homemade pies that she proudly and happily created for family and friends.

She worked for many years as a waitress/server at the old Jefferson Restaurant on College Avenue in Waterville, where she first met husband John, and later in life, at Olive's Chuck Wagon and China Town Restaurant on College Avenue. Dora Mae was a consummate people person who loved her customers and her work. A character at heart, she loved to entertain people by telling stories and making everyone laugh. Dora Mae loved to read and she was an avid sports fan who loved to watch her favorite sports teams: the New York Giant's, Boston Red Sox, and the University of Maine Black Bears Hockey teams.

She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Ida Quirion; her husband, John A. Blair; her daughter, Cheryl Ann Blair Emery; and siblings, Geraldine Michaud, Henry "Pit" Quirion, Edward Quirion, and Donald Quirion.

Dora Mae is survived by her children, Neil Joseph and wife Donna of Fairfield, Dana Blair and wife Wanda of Newport, Stephen Blair of Rhode Island, John Blair and wife Penny of Durham, Rexford Blair and wife Michelle of Winslow, Dianne Scott of Shawmut, Gloria Blair-Chapman and husband Mark of Hooksett, N.H., and Janet Condon and partner Marty Rankin of Benton; four granddaughters; 12 grandsons; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; three siblings, Joanne Gaulin of Winslow, Leo Quirion of Waterville, and James Quirion of Winslow.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lakewood Continuing Care Center and Maine General Hospice for all of the wonderful care and support she received while in their care.

Spring interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Fairfield. Arrangements are by Lawry Brothers, 107 Main St., Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society Waterville Area, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, Maine 04901 or Cure Pancreatic Cancer – Lustgarten Foundation, 11 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, New York 11714 (www.obituaries.centralmaine.com 2/13/2015)
