Robert Bruce MacIndoe, 88, of 327 Adams St., went home to be with his Lord, Saturday December 29, 2007, at home, surrounded by his family.
Robert and his wife the former Virginia Wetzel celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on August 24th.
He was born November 29,1919, in Shamokin and was the son of R. Bruce and G. Catherine Unger MacIndoe.
Robert was a 1937 graduate of Shamokin High School. He attended Leigh University in Civil Engineering. He worked as a design engineer for Avco from 1940 to 1947. Robert retired in 1978 from Penn Dot after 31 years of service. He is a member of the Williamsport Home Based Fellowship, Williamsport Bicycle Club, and has cycled across the United States and Canada, between the ages of 55 and 65 Bob and Virginia biked 32,000 miles, and a member of the PARSE retirement group.
What Bob held most precious to heart was his personal relationship with his Saviour Jesus Christ.
After spending 23 years in organized religion Bob and his wife Virginia found themselves searching for truth – was it truly possible to know for sure if you were going to heaven. They hopped from organization to organization and still were given no concrete answers.
Finally, a man named Delbert Mintz invited Bob to a home Bible fellowship where he opened God’s Word and read to him God’s plan of Salvation. It was then that Bob accepted Jesus into his heart. What a relief it was to learn that Salvation is a gift of Grace and not something he had to earn.
Bob devoted his life to studying the Scriptures and continued meeting in the homes as did the early Christians.
Bob has a large extended spiritual family whom he holds so precious in his heart.
We all rejoice together knowing Bob is at home with his Saviour.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters, Bonnie (Marlin) Adams of Eagles Mere, Heather (Dennis) Rearick of Jersey Shore, Becky (Tom) Lyons of Williamsport, Virginia (Chip) Derr of Cogan Station; one sister Mary C. Price of Princeton, NJ, seven grandchildren, Gary and Greg Adams, Louie Goins, III, Amy Green, Beth Lyons, Alicia Waldrab, Caleb Derr; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Kaufman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2102 Northway Rd, with his son in law, Chip Derr officiating. Burial will be private in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday January 2 at the funeral home 6 to 7 p.m. The family will provide flowers.
The family suggests the memorial contributions in Robert’s name be made to Susquehanna Home Health & Hospice, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701
