DEBORAH LEE JASSO LEGARDA, 51, a resident of Silver City, passed away at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque on Tuesday, October 26, 2010.

A prayer vigil and rosary will be recited by Dr. Gilbert Arizaga at 7 o'clock in the evening on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Silver City. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the St. Francis Newman Center with Fr. Marcos Reyna officiating. As requested, cremation will take place thereafter.

Deborah was born on May 19, 1959 in Long Beach, CA to Alizandro and Roberta (Pena) Jasso. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and best friend. She was a generous and self-sacrificing person who couldn't say no to anyone. This self-sacrificing attitude and love for her family translated into her always taking charge of coordinating family functions, taking care of her grandchildren, and volunteering for different organizations to help those in need. She loved music and greatly appreciated her many friends. Deborah taught catechism at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was very proud of having accomplished her goal of earning her Bachelor's degree from WNMU. Reaching this goal late in her life was a testament to her courage and fortitude. Although her family is glad that she is no longer in pain or suffering, she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her parents, Alex M. and Roberta P. Jasso; daughter, Jaclynn Jasso Legarda; brothers, Alex Jasso Jr. wife Rosanna of Copperas Cove, TX, Bernie P. Jasso wife Lisa of Tucson, and Robert A. Jasso of Silver City; sisters, Gloria Willis of Silver City, Veronica L. Jasso Rios of Chandler, AZ, Angelica Jasso companion Scott Franklin of Boston, MA, Lillian Chavirra of Bayard, and Carmen Davila of Silver City; grandchildren, Michael Alcorta, Isaac Casaus, and Alizandra Jasso; step-children, Sally Ann Legarda of Colorado, Rocky Legarda of Organ, NM, and Gilbert Legarda ex-wife Angela Sparks and their son Iziah Legarda of Colorado; 3 special nephews, Deanna, Santiago, and Rito Nestor Jasso; and 21 nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Candido and Petra Jasso, and maternal grandparents, Anita and Manuel Fierro; and aunt and uncle, Petra and Joe Chacon.

Pallbearers are Alex Jr., Alex III, Bernie, Robert, and Robert Jr. Jasso and James Woods. Honorary pallbearers are all her nephews and nieces.
