Alvin T. "Al" Kutil, 86, Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 10, 2012, at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. The Reverend Donald Adams will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery, Wisconsin Rapids with military rites rendered by the VFW Post #2534. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM on Friday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Al was born February 23, 1926, in Branch, WI, to the late Joseph J. and Isabel K. (Laveck) Kutil. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc before enlisting in the Navy and serving from 1944-46 as a Seaman 1st Class Gunners Mate in the Philippines and the Asiatic Pacific. Upon his return he worked for Erdman Motor Company in Manitowoc as the auto body repair manager and later worked for Mid-State Technical Institute as an instructor of auto body repair and welding until his retirement. He earned his lifetime teaching certification from the VTAE.

Al was able to participate in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in October 2011.

Al was a very good man and husband. He loved to laugh and would often stop and chat with friends and neighbors. "Everybody loves Alvin." He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, having held season tickets since their days at City Stadium. One of his greatest loves was for animals, especially his own.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary Repta-Kutil; children, Dr. Kathryn Quinton of Elgin, IL, Cynthia Armstrong of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia and Alvin K. (Laurie) Kutil of Madison; grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda and Aaron (Sabrina) Quinton of Elgin, IL, Eleanor, Esther and Linus Armstrong of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia and Joseph Robert Fiess of Verona; great-grandchildren, Conrad, Cole and Joretta of Elgin, IL; brother, Robert (Charlotte) Kutil of Branch; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Doris Repta of Wisconsin Rapids; sisters-in-law, Linda Kennedy of Lake Okeechobee, FL and Jane (Dave) Kommer of Wisconsin Rapids; dogs, Minnie, Teddy and AJ; cats, Ralphie and Diana; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Robert Kutil and daughter, Joretta Kutil-Fiess.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, CNAs, and other medical professionals who helped give Al quality of life for the past three years.
