Louis J. Inferrera was born on January 1, 1949 to John and Josephine Inferrera. His home of record is Vineland, NJ. He had five siblings. Louis enjoyed being on a Little League team. He also liked track. Louis wanted to be a barber like his older brother.
Inferrera enlisted in the US Marine Corps on September 28, 1966. He attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). Louis did his boot camp training at Parris Island, SC and completed advanced training at Camp Lejeune, NC. He was an infantry rifleman with Kilo Company of the 3rd Marine Division. He arrived in Vietnam on March 24, 1967.
Inferrera was killed in action on May 20, 1967 during a search and seizure mission in the Quang Tri Province. He is buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Inferrera was awarded a Purple Heart, National Defense Medal w/ one Star, Vietnam Service Medal, Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Military Merit Medal and Gallantry Cross w/one Palm.
