As part of his civic life, Mr. Dentinger lent his leadership talents to WNED-TV, FM and AM Radio as chairman of the Western New York Broadcasting Foundation.

He also was past president of the former National Conference of Christians and Jews; a past chairman of the Catholic Charities Appeal; a former member of the Holy Angels Academy board of directors; past president of the Buffalo Jaycees and former local chairman of the Employer Support for the Guard & Reserve program, among many other boards and committees.

In 1971, Mr. Dentinger received the Civic Award of Greater Buffalo from the Association of Insurance Agents and the Knights of St. Gregory Catholic Church Lay Award.
