He was a son of the late Garther and Gerdie Hughes Barnett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Willis Barnett, in 2010, a daughter, Shirley Pate, and three brothers, Jim, Keles and Ralph Barnett.
Mr. Barnett was a retired painter from Mayes Brothers Construction.
A private funeral service for family and close friends wwas conducted Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at 2:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home.
Interment followed in Cherokee Community Church Cemetery.
