Herbert Wilburn LUBBOCK

Herbert Wilburn, 72, of Lubbock peacefully went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, after battling with cancer.

He will be remembered by many whose lives he touched. He was born in Slaton, Texas, on July 17, 1942. He served honorably in the United States Air Force.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Demetra of 20 years; daughters, JoShonda Session, Stephanee and Kisha Ashberry' sons, Charles and Darrel Smith; granddaughters, Maryah, Taryah and Ja'Myah Hereford, Aryanah, Brie'yanah, Ryanah and Zyah Session. Sister and brothers are: Marie Rofe (Donny), Esse Scott (Afreda), Anita Hicks (Alfred), Bruce Scott (Diane), Kenneth Scott (Sandra), and Joel Scott (Cynthia); god-daughters, Georgetta and Sherrell Pettie; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends from all walks of life.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sylvia Ward.

Celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, with Pastor Charles Hankson officiating.

Pre-viewing will be from 12 to 12:45 p.m., at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 887 S. Flint St., Slaton, Texas, Interment will follow in the Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.

The family will receive friends on Friday at the Curry Funeral Home, from 2 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13, 2015.
