Appearing in the "Bellevue News", 23 May 1902, Pg. 1, Col. 2, entitled, "The Sudden Death of Mrs. George Hartman Tuesday Morning" read as follows:
Death claimed another of the few remaining pioneer women of this section. Mrs. Cornelia Hartman, relict of the late George Hartman died at her home on North West street, Tuesday, May 20, aged 71 years, 1 month and 5 days.
Mrs. Hartman had been in good health until but a short time before her death, remarking the day before the sad event that she ought to be out looking after her garden. Death was due to heart failure.
The deceased's maiden name was Cornelia Mook. She was born in New York and came to Ohio when quite young. She was united in marriage to George Hartman, September, 1850, and most of their lives were spent on their farm north of town and in Bellevue. Two daughters and one son survive; Mrs. William Aigler, of Bellevue; Mrs. F.W. Heyman, of Hunt's Corners, and Frank Hartman, living north of town.
The funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. M.W. Reece, and interment was made in the Bellevue Cemetery.
