About 1869 Ben's Mother married again to James Fitzgerald from Ireland.

Together they were supporting the family of nine. Their real estate was now valued at $1500.00 and they had $375.00 in personal property.
Family sources confirmed by the 1900 census supported the fact that Benjamin "Ben" Mitchell selected Della R "Nellie" De Lemater to be his bride on 16 Jan 1882 in Crawford County, Wisconsin. Born to them were two children, Martha Ellen Mitchell and Elmer H Mitchell.
The 1900 United States Federal Census found Ben and Della living and farming in South Fork, Montgomery, Arkansas. He owned his farm and it was free of a mortgage. They had been married 18 years and had 2 school age children.
The 1910 United States Federal Census revealed that they had moved to Grand Junction Ward 2, Mesa, Colorado and rented a house at 140 Main Street. Ben was taking on Odd jobs and their daughter, Martha E Mitchell was working as a seamstress in a Tent and Awning Factory and Elmer was doing odd jobs.
Six sources documented that Della's beloved Benjamin "Ben" Mitchell's passed away on 12 Jun 1913 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. A family source and Benjamin's death certificate revealed that Benjamin died of chronic nephritis also known as Bright's disease. A very painful Kidney disease. His son, Elmer Mitchell, was his informant.
