Richard Wayne Emery was born out of wedlock at a home for unwed mothers in Hinsdale Illinois to very young parents Roger Manion and Fern Winona Emery who never married. The baby boy was left in the home for a couple of years, after relocating the family from South Dakota to Michigan, Fern decided to let her parents Samuel and Harriet Trudell Emery raise the child as their own.
Richard was NEVER adopted by his grandparents, but his paternity was kept secret from him until he was 16 years old and joined the Merchant Marines and went to Europe. While in Europe his grand mother Hattie Emery wrote him a letter telling him that his "sister" Fern was really his biological mother, Richard told me often how hard that was for him to accept, and there was always bad feeling between the two of them until the day he died. When we got our first computer Dick (as he was called) asked me to do research to find his biological father and we did find him in Virginia, but he had died a few years earlier, we found that he did have other children, but Dick was afraid to contact them as they might not know about him and it would upset them. Someone has put out information that Dick's biological father was named Roger Morrison and that his grandparents had legally adopted him, who started that information circulating I do not know, but I do know for sure that it is totally not true.. Fern told us many times who his father was and also told us a little about him.

Dick served 25 years in the U.S. Navy retiring in 1969, while in the navy he met and married Marcella Gail Crossen and they were married for 19 years and then divorced. From that marriage they had 8 children. Susan Emery Heist, Richard Wayne Jr.(Deceased), Patricia Emery Cleary, Tracey Emery Corbett, Michael Emery, Guy Emery, Anita Emery Ellis, and Timothy Emery.

Dick and I were married for 30 years and I gave birth to our daughter Kelly Fern Emery on April 25, 1976 one year after our marriage and Dick adopted my biological grandson Christopher Michael Emery. We moved to Ocean Springs Mississippi one year after our marriage and lived here together until Dicks death from Alheimzers Disease on October 25, 2004. I still live here and miss him everyday. Rest In Peace the Love of My Life.
