Agnes L. Chermak, age 89, formerly of 912 N. 11th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday, April 18, 1996, at the North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20th, 1996, at the Phipps Memorial Chapel, adjacent to the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Julia Hollester officiating with cremation having taken place and burial at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth, at a later date.

She was born January 12, 1907, in Freeborn, Minn., daughter of the late Claude D. and Alma Durn Howard. She attended schools in Minnesota and also attended the Stout University. She married Anton Chermak, August 18, 1928, in Wells, Minn. The couple came to Manitowoc some time later. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Patricia Chermak, Manitowoc, Kenneth and Patricia Chermak, Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Maxine Howard, Mankato, Minn.; one sister, Carol Quad, Hutchinson, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Florence Howard, St. Paul, Minn.; five grandchildren, Anne Chermak, Madison, Peter, and wife, Mary Chermak, Madison, Elizabeth and husband, Tom Tearpock, Manitowoc, K.C. and wife, Kippen Chermak, Minneapolis, Minn., Tony Chermak, Phoenix, Ariz; two great-grandchildren, John Michael Tearpock, Manitowoc, Grace MacGregor Chermak, Minneapolis, Minn.; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Anton in 1988, one brother, Phin, and a sister, Lois Graber.

The family will greet friends following the services on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the donors choice. The Jens Funeral Home assisted with the funeral arrangements.
