Jean was born March 6, 1922 in Petersburg, Illinois, the daughter of Berton and Esther Arnold Nolting. She married Homer D. McAfee on Nov. 12, 1941 in Springfield. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2000.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Trudy and Arlene Waters and one cousin.
She had worked as a bookkeeper at Sangamo Electric when she was younger. She was a member of the American Sewing Guild and other craft and sewing clubs. She was also a member of H.E.A., the Mariners Club, and Third Presbyterian Church. For over 80 years she was a member of the Chancel Choir at Third Presbyterian Church.
