Joe Charles Gilbert, Jr., 86, of Waco, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2015, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Brittain officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park.

Joe was born in Brownwood, Texas, to Joe C. Sr. and Evie Lena Mckissack Gilbert. While serving in the U.S. Air Force, he met his future wife, Julie Panos. He and his brother, Walter, owned and operated Gilbert Roofing Company for over 40 years. Joe was a committed Christian and a founding member of Central United Methodist Church in Waco.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Julie.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda Storer and husband, Terry, and JoLynn Davis and husband, Johnny; son, Kenneth Gilbert and wife, Billie; grandchildren: Emily Storer, Jonathan Storer, Andrew Gilbert and his wife, Kristen, Michael Gilbert, Courtney Wood, Tyler Davis, Jonathan Davis, Matthew Davis and Monica Davis; and four great-grandchildren.
