Appearing in the "News Messenger" (Fremont), 08 Jun 1953, Page 1, Col. 5, titled, "George Hummel Taken By Death", reads:
George E. Hummel, 79, Route 2, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday in his residence. He had been ill one year with a heart ailment.
Born Jun 10, 1873 in Jackson township, he was the son of Emanuel and Sarah Hummel. A farmer, he was a member of St. Paul's United Brethren church, Rising Sun. He was married 39 years. His wife, Stella, survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. George Nederhouser, Rising Sun, and three grandchildren. Two daughters, Emerald and Faye Cathryn, proceeded him in death.
The body will remain in the George Keller funeral home for services at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Ralph Cornell, Rising Sun, will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening.
