Glenn H. Laird, 82, of Eldorado, died Wednesday, May 25, at his home after an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Preble County, he was born Nov. 5, 1911, in Lewisburg, the son of Charles and Laura (Getting) Laird. He was co-owner of the former Laird's Market in West Manchester and was a retired inspector from Parker Hannifin Corp. in Eaton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion post #665, West Manchester, and the West Manchester United Church of Christ.
His wife, Martha (Blackford) Laird, died Feb. 16, 1990. Two brothers, Roy "Dick" Laird and Herbert Laird, are also deceased.
Survivors include four sisters, Eva Laird, Mildred Laird, Charlotte Heeter and Kathryn Michael, all of West Manchester; one brother, Everett Laird of Eaton; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Sunday, May 29, at Monroe Cemetery, with the Rev. Ned A. Michael officiating. There was no public calling. Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Michael Chapel, West Manchester, was in charge of arrangements.
