Private memorial services for Mr. Billy Hugh Adams, age 76, of Clayton were held Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at Kent Funeral Home Chapel in Clayton. Bro. Bob Cox officiated and after the brief service friends and relatives were received by the family from 2 until 4 P.M. Mr. Adams died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at UAB Hospital after a sudden illness.
Born December 22, 1937 in Louisville, Mr. Adams was the son of the late Arthur Huey and Lula Kate Horne Adams. Billy had lived most of his life in Louisville and Clayton except for his years attending college at Auburn University and the twelve years he worked for NASA. He graduated Auburn and married his sweetheart in 1962. Billy enjoyed farming, gardening and fishing. And was the best grandpa ever to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nancy Adams, Clayton; a son and daughter in law, Chris and Christy Adams, St. Petersburg, FL.; a daughter and son in law, Sonia and Donnie Godbold, Clayton; a brother, Arthur Joe Adams, Atlanta, GA.; a sister, Lurnelle Adams Hamm, Louisville; 5 grandchildren, Tyler Watson, Justin Watson, Crystal Benefield, Wade Godbold and Samantha Grace Adams and 5 great grandchildren.
