In 1928, he married Cecile Estelle Schierholz and together, between 1929 and 1946, they had three sons, Clarence Edward, Thomas Donald, and Robert Henry, and three daughters, Marilyn Jo, Martha Jean, and Carol Ann.
He was a self-employed cabinet maker for many years and he was a meticulously fine craftsman.
He died on August 23, 1975, in Downey, California, at the age of 68, and was buried in Whittier, California.
He was unaware that he had two ancestors who arrived in America in 1620 on the Mayflower.
