Arlene B. Kaczinski Stern, 92, DeWitt, passed away Monday morning, April 4, 2011 in her home.
Mrs. Stern, the former Arlene Peters was born February 22, 1919 near McIntire, Iowa, to William and Bertha Peters.
She married John Kaczinski, February 22, 1940. The couple farmed much of their married life. John preceded Arlene in death November 2, 1975.
She married Paul Stern December 1, 1984 and he preceded her in death June 14, 2003. Arlene worked at the former Junior High School, DeWitt, as one of the head cooks for many years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Arlene loved cooking, dancing and working in the yard.
Surviving are sons, Duaine (Deb Soldaat) Kaczinski, Maquoketa, Darrell (Myrna) Kaczinski, Delmar, Jack (Penny) Kaczinski, DeWitt, and Jim (Nancy) Kaczinski, Camanche; ten grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and eight step-greatgrandchildren; sisters, Bernetta Noble, Davenport, and Lorraine Nosbish, Maquoketa; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Arlene in death in addition to her husbands were her parents, a grandson, Duaine, Jr., sisters, Helen and Lois and brothers, Wilbur and Ronald.
Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wendesday, April 6, 2011 with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Fr. Paul Connolly will officiate with burial in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Lane Kaczinksi, Chad Kaczinski, Kellie Hillis, Justin Kaczinski, Amber Kaczinski, Rich Freund and Darwin Kaczinski.
