Barbara was born in Waukee and lived in the Waukee/Des Moines area all her life. She was a hoe health care worker in the Des Moines area. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Ben Bass; her granddaughter, Jennifer Jones; two brothers, Lewis and Jack Meusburger; and one sister, Midge Bunting. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Jim) Jones of Pontiac, Ill.; three sons, Gene Bass of Ankeny, John (Diane) Bass and Larry (Cindy) Bass, both of Des Moines; longtime companion Dominic Riccio; three stepsons, Richard Riccio of San Diego, Calif., Glenn (Denise) Riccio of Winter Park, Fla., and Scott (Nighi) Riccio of San Diego, Calif.; stepdaughter Nancy (Keith) Shafer of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Crise of Des Moines, Delores Brown of Waukee, and Christina Schore of Dawson; her brother, George Meusburger of Maxwell; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Westover Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
