Thomas Irvin Gillmer was born 13 May 1844 in Duck Creek community, Newton Township, Trumbull County, Ohio to William and Catherine (Miller) Gillmer. On 26 Jan 1870, at age 25, he married Helen Earle, daughter of Daniel and Adeline (Kellogg) Earle in Trumbull County, Ohio. The couple lived in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio from about 1870 to about 1909 when Helen died. Thomas did not remarry, but he continued practicing law as an attorney. He was a resident of Warren from1910 to 1938 upon his death. Thomas and Helen had a daughter and son – Elizabeth “Bess” Achsah Gillmer (Mrs. James Ward Packard) (1871-1960) and Rollind Irvin Gillmer (1873-1929).
