Henry loved deer hunting, which he did until he was 90. He liked to be active and enjoyed pitching horseshoes on occasion. A favorite pastime was playing the fiddle.
Henry died March 2, 2000 at the age of 96. Henry is survived by 12 children; Grace (Gordon) Strommen of Starubck; Loranz (Bernadette) Kluver of Alexandria; Minnie (Vern) Taft of Rockford, IL; Simon (Vera) Kluver of Rockford; Delbert (Marilyn) Kluver of Minneapolis; Jim (Rosemary) Kluver of Rockford, IL; Evelyn (Henry) Gades of Blaine; Rosella (Elmer) Benjaminson of Loretto; Doris (Dean) Olson of Eureka, IL; Joyce Yttrie of Alexandria; Marlow Kluver of Alexandria; Roger (Joan) Kluver of Elk River; 49 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Talena in 1986, daughters: Mary Simonson and Lorraine Swenson, an infant daughter, eight brothers, two sisters, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held March 6, 2000 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Rev. Kathryn Rothman officiating. Interment was in Hudson Cemetery in Hudson Township. Pallbearers included Henry's six sons: Loranz, Simon, Delbert, Jim, Marlow and Roger Kluver. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria.
