From The Mound City News-Jeffersonian, August 16, 1918, Page 1:

"Perry Anselment, wife and 12 years old son started some two weeks ago for Colorado, going on business and pleasure. They went to Akron, Colo., with the view of buying land, making the trip in their car.

Driving along at a steady gait, Mr. Anselment drove into an open ditch some 15 feet wide and 10 feet deep before he could put on the brakes to stop the car.

Mr. and Mrs. Anselment were pinned beneath the car but their son, Donald, escaped injury. Farm residents nearby saw the accident and worked all night with them with the aid of a physician.

No relief could be given and Mr. Anselment died before a hospital could be reached in Denver. His back was broken and he was paralyzed from the hips down. Mrs. Anselment sustained a broken shoulder from which she is suffering greatly.

The body was brought to Oregon for burial. The funeral services were held in the M.E. Church conducted by Rev. C.F. Hand and largely attended by sympathetic friends.-Oregon Sentinel.

Mr. Anselment is a brother of Mrs. J.C. Bagby of this city and Mrs. Delia Crews of Craig. Their many friends will be grieved to learn of this sudden and unexpected death which brings sorrow into their lives."
