William's pension papers includes William's application for pension for his injuries received in the Civil War at Tuscumbia on 16 Oct 1863, when he received gunshot wounds in his left hand and right arm resulting in loss of three fingers and partial loss of use of his right arm.
His discharge papers read - Private William F. Henry of Company C of the 27 Missouri Regiment of the United States Infantry - was enlisted by D.S. Cooper at Hudson, Missouri on the 13th of Aug. 1862 to serve 3 years. He was born in Green Co. in the state of Kentucky, is 26 years of age, five foot ten inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes, sandy hair, and by occupation when enlisted a farmer, during the last two months the solider has been unfit for duty 60 days.
