Ersie Leona Smith, 92, of the Redland Community, passed away Friday, November 18, 2005 at her residence.She was born Thursday, February 20, 1913 in Arkinda, Arkansas.

On January 21, 1932, she married Clarence Monroe Smith.

Ersie was a homemaker, and enjoyed cooking, quilting, and gardening. She was a very active member of the Haworth Assembly of God, teaching the 3 and 4 year old Sunday school class for over 25 years. Ersie was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harve and Pearl Adeline Cunningham Walker; her husband, Clarence Smith; a son, Billy Smith; a daughter, Reta Hankins; brothers, Bud Walker and Dee Walker; 3 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Ersie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Gracie Smith of the Redland Community, Jerry and Paula Smith of the Harris Community, Joe and Joyce Smith of the Redland Community, and Wayne and Mary Smith of Andrews, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and J.R. Abney of Idabel, Rachel and Gilbert Geesa of La Guna Vista, Texas, Bernice and Lawrence Owens of the Shults Community, Barbara and Tommy Crow of Ashdown, Arkansas, and Geneva and Jim Friend of the Union Grove Community, and Billy Hankins of the Redland Community; sister, Clara Williams of Sobol; a sister-in-law, Annie Mae Walker of Ashdown, Arkansas; 32 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a large church family.
